Streaker Run Review (iPhone, iPad, Android)

If we can say one thing about Streaker Run, it's that we've never seen anything like it on the App Store before. It's an endless-runner which isn't in itself very remarkable, but there's a rather cheeky storyline behind the game involving a derobed young man running from a house while a furious husband chases him from behind. Modojo is a family website, so we'll let you join the dots on this particular scenario.

As an endless-runner, the game's mechanics are pretty unremarkable: you leap over gaps and piles of trash which would otherwise slow you down, gather gems, and steer left and right around the hedgerows and back-alleys of suburbia. The running's not just restricted to the ground floor, and you'll eventually take to the roofs while dodging power lines if you want to avoid a particularly embarrassing incident.

While it may not reinvent the wheel, what sets this game apart from the rest of the competition is the humor and styling of the game. Our hapless runner tears around the landscape with a cluster of pixellated blocks covering his lower, ahem, extremities, for example. The artwork's a step ahead of the competition too, with some very nice environments to run around. It's also a good deal more forgiving than most other endless-runners, and you're allowed to make more than a few stumbles before the game's up.

With that said, the audio's pretty minimal, with only the puffs of your character and the growls and grunts of the pursuing homeowner providing the audio, although there are some occasionally funny lines from the residents of the village: "Cold out is it?" Withering...
