Dustin Johnson of the United States watches his tee shot on the second hole during the final round of the 115th US Open Championship at Chambers Bay on June 21, 2015 in Washington

Tacoma (United States) (AFP) - Dustin Johnson went two shots clear in the final round of the US Open at Chambers Bay on Sunday.

He was part of a leading quartet who started the day at four under, three clear of the rest of the field.

Masters Champion Jordan Spieth, South African Branden Grace and Australian Jason Day all had bogeys in the first three holes, while the big-hitting American birdied the fourth to move clear.

The biggest mover of the day was Rory McIlroy.

The world number one started the day eight off the pace, at four over, but six birdies through 13 holes propelled him into contention at two under.

He missed a short one for another birdie at the 14th and then three-putted at the par-three 15th.

Adam Scott, meanwhile, was level with McIlroy at one under after 13 holes.
